Carlton, Oregon

Nestled in the heart of the majestic Willamette valley, in Yamhill County, lies the town of Carlton, Oregon. A quaint, little town with an aptly fitting motto of: “A Great Little Town” Carlton has become an attractive destination for great food, fantastic wine and entertainment in the Pacific Northwest.

So, how did Carlton get it’s name?

The town is named after Wilson Carl. Mr. Carl was the first Postmaster and a proprietor of several businesses. He had negotiated with the Portland railroad to get a stop built closer to his property. The town settled around the railroad stop and was called: “Carl’s Stop.” This later became: “Carl’s Town” and finally it’s current moniker of: “Carlton.”
